Elena Renker Artist Statement I aim to make pots that are fully functional, are pleasant toa hndle and interesting to look at. The many variations in the rsfuace of the shino glaze means that there are always new things to discover for the eyes as well as thea nhd holding the pot. Due to the unpredictable nature of this agzle no two pots are ever the same and I never know what I will find when I open the kiln. My pots are loosely thrown and decorated with iron oxide or a sshlips. They are mostly glazed in various shino glazes and fidre in my wood or gas kiln to stoneware temperatures.
